Nelson's Visit

This weekend Todd's parents came down to visit.  It was great to see them!  It was the first time that we've seen them since finding out I was pregnant.  They bought us a book for making baby food and a baby food steamer - blender.  I can't wait to use it!

Todd and I got them a cute onesie for the baby to wear when we visit them in Boston that says - "Nana and Papa love me!" and a bib that says "What happens at Nana and Papa's stays at Nana and Papa's".  They loved it!

On Saturday we went to Wilmington & Wrightsville Beach for the day.  We walked down the riverwalk in Wilmington and had lunch on the water in Wrightsville beach.  The weather was really nice - 55 and sunny!  On our way back home we had dinner at Second Empire for Barry's birthday.  It was a lot of driving for one day but worth the trip!

On Sunday we had a brunch for them at our house with my family and Lori & Chris.  They met Leila for the first time and they got to see Lori's house afterwards.  All in all, it was a busy but fun weekend! We can't wait to have them down to visit again!

1st Trimister Screening

We had some tests done today at WakeMed and everything looked good.  We got another ultrasound!  I can't believe how much the baby grew in two weeks.  We even saw the baby moving around!  The heartbeat was 171.  We won't see the baby again until April when we find out if it's a girl or a boy!

My 1st Maternity Pants!

I purchased my first pair of maternity pants yesterday!  I got a pair of jeans at a pea in a pod.  I went in trying to avoid the seven jeans but i ending up leaving with them.  I tried on at least 6 pairs and none compared to them.  I spent more money then I was planning on but I think I will get good use out of them.  I fit into them now and hopefully throughout my pregnancy.  And I'm not gonna lie, I might even wear them well after my pregnancy.  The nice thing about seven jeans is that they stretch and then when you wash them they go back to their original size.  They are so comfortable!  I don't know why all jeans don't have an elastic waist!  So this was my one big splurge!

Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day was a special one for us.  Our lives will be changed forever in just a few months so it is nice to be able to spend some time together and enjoy the moment.  Todd took me out for a nice dinner at Second Empire.  It's our favorite restaurant in Raleigh.  He also sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers.  He's the best!

Every year for Valentine's Day I get Todd a gift that has to do with the red sox.  It started when we were dating and I've done it ever since.  It's somewhat of a tradition now.  Nothing says I love you more then red sox gear right!?!  So this year I wanted to stick with the tradition and I thought it would be cute to still get him red sox gifts but for the baby!  He loved it!

Doctor's Visit

We had our first doctor's visit with Dr. Harden at Kamm, McKenzie, and Associates.  My sister went here for her pregnancy and she really liked them so I figured this would be a good place for us as well.  It was a 2 hour appt.  We first met with Martha - a nurse there and went over our medical history and interview.  She was really nice and answered all of our questions.  I got my weight and blood pressure taken.  My weight was 104 and my blood pressure was 124/80 which was higher then the last one but I think I was just a little nervous.  Then we met with Dr. Harden who seemed very experienced and has been at the practice for a while.  We really liked him too!  He seemed very laid back, answered all of our questions and made us feel very comforable and confident about the pregnancy.  Then we got another ultrasound!!!  I wasn't sure we would get one today but they hadn't gotten our file yet from the other doctor and he said he would give us an ultrasound to  "show us that everything was fine".  He also said that at this point (10 weeks) we were out of the high risk for a miscarriage.  YAY!  I always get so nervous for these appts. but once I saw the ultrasound I felt so much better.  The baby is a lot bigger and starting to take form.  We were able to see the shape of the head and also the limbs that are forming.  And of course we also saw the heartbeat!  He said everything looked great and the size was right on track!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday!  Todd and I had everyone over our house yesterday for a birthday brunch.  It was nice to get the family together.  We got my mom tickets for all of us to see Wicked in May.  She has been wanting to see that show for a long time so we were finally able to get tickets.  (Thank you Andrew for getting us great seats)  We can't wait to see it!

And a gift from the baby!

Pregnancy Calendar

Today I started my pregnancy calendar.  It's a great way to keep track of what week I am in and also all the events that happen through out my pregnancy.  They have cute little stickers that say: First Ultrasound, Heard Babys Heartbeat, Expected Due Date, Registed for Baby, Found Out Gender, Set up Nursery, Baby Class, etc.  The calendars also have tips and suggestions for the mom-to-be, prenatal visit notes, record personal thoughts, and places to put pictures of the growing belly!  I love it!  I have two - a big one that I hang up in my house and a smaller one that I keep in my bag  just in case I need it when I am out!  :)

My New Favorite Drink!

Everyone who knows me knows I love a glass of red wine with dinner. Now that I'm pregnant - no wine for me! :( I've been trying to come up with a new non alcoholic drink that I like. The night before our ultrasound Todd and I went to Maggiano's for dinner. It was a lot fun. We sat in the bar area and listened to the piano player. We were a little nervous for the ultrasound so it was a great way to relax. Anyway, Todd ordered me a San Pellegrino with lime and I loved it. It's so simple but so good. It's my new favorite drink!
