Today Todd and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary! I can't believe it's been 4 years already. So much has happened since our wedding. We moved to NC, bought a house, and now have a baby on the way! It's been a great 4 years and we have so much to look forward to in the years to come!
This anniversary is a special one for us! Two months ago I scheduled our 3D/4D ultrasound for today - 6/30/10. I couldn't think of a better gift for our anniversay then to see our baby! It was the perfect way to spend the day! We had our ultrasound done at Triangle Imaging Center in Cary and we loved the place. The office in Cary is just for 3D/4D ultrasounds for pregnant women. It was a cute little office and we were the only ones there, along with the ultrasound technician so it was a very comfortable setting. She gave me a juice box to drink beforehand to give the baby a little energy to move around. The ultrasound itself was amazing. During the ultrasound the baby opened his eyes, he opened his mouth to yawn and he tried to suck his thumb. He was moving around a lot and he kept grabbing his feet with his hands.. She said that he has a lot of hair already. She also said that he is a good size and already has little chubby cheeks! We got some pictures but he was breach which the technician said is the hardest position to get good pictures. She said we can come back in two weeks for another free session because we didn't get a lot of good pictures!!! We get to do it all over again on 7/16. Here are some of the pictures:
We got a DVD of the whole 30 minute session and a CD of over 100 pictures. We also got a photo book of 15 printed colored pictures and 15 printed black & white pictures. It was an amazing experience seeing the 3D/4D imaging!
After the ultrasound we went to dinner at Herons at The Umstead Hotel in Cary. Over dinner we were able to look at all the pictures of the baby - it was perfect!
When we got home we watched our wedding video which we watch every year on our anniversary. It was fun to relive our wedding and to see how far we've come since that day!

3hr Glucola Test
On Friday I had to go in for a glucola test because my first test results were a little high. I've heard it's pretty common to fail the first test and then pass the second. The second test was a pain though. I had to fast in the morning, get a baseline blood test, and drink another sugary liquid filled bottle at 7:30am. Then I had to get my blood taken every hour for 3 hours! I was glad once it was done!
I got my results back the following Monday and the nurse said all the numbers looked good so I don't have to do anymore testing!

Charlotte
This weeknd I met Todd down in Charlotte. He had a work event on Saturday night so we thought it would be fun to make a weekend out of it. We went to Del Frisco's on Friday night when I got there - always a great dinner! We saw Rick Flare there - he was sitting right behind me. He used to be a wrestler but we know him as the guy that says "Woooo" on the big screen at the Hurricane's games. Todd sees him there all the time and always gets a kick out of him. Ha! On Saturday we relaxed by the pool and went shopping. There is some great shopping in the Southpark area where we stayed. I got some cute dresses to get me through the rest of the summer. Dresses are the most comfortable for me espeically when it's 90 degress out. On Saturday night we went to a baseball game for Todd's event.
It turned out to be a great weekend in Charlotte!

Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
For Father's day I got Todd a web cam. We already have one for the house but I needed to get him a travel one so he can see me and the baby when he is away for work. I'm sure it will be hard for him to be away when the baby arrives so I hope that this will help a little. I also got him a cute red sox outfit for the baby. He can't have enough of those! :)
Father-to-be
My dad and his favorite three daugthers!
We all went to the pool to cool off because it was 90+ degrees out.

Doctor's Visit
On Friday I had my 28 week checkup. I had my glucose test done so I had to drink half a bottle of a fruit punch mixture an hour before my appt. and then had my bloodwork done. I find out the results on Monday. Everything went well during my appt. My blood pressure was 118/64 and I weighed in at 122.6 - my iron went up alittle (10.8) from my last appt. I met with Dr. Privette. She checked the baby's heartbeat which was 155 bpm and very strong. She said that because of the location of the heartbeat she thinks the baby is head down. He's getting into position! she also measured by belly which was 28 cm - exactly what it should be. I talked to her a little bit about my contractions because I still get a couple a day. She didn't seem too worried and she said that contractions are normal around this time as long as I don't get 4-6 an hour. I will now go to the doctor's every 2 weeks so I'm sure the next three months will fly by!
*** I got my test results back on Monday and it was a little high so I have to take the 3hr glucose test on Friday.

28 Weeks
I'm offically in my 3rd trimester!
Second Trimester Recap:
Measurements:
- I gained 18 pounds in my 2nd trimester - so far a total of 23 pounds overall. My belly started to measure a week behind but at end my 2nd trimester (28 weeks) it was measuring exactly what week I was in. My blood pressure has been pretty good the whole time. It was a little low at times but for the most part nothing to worrying about. At one point it was 88/55 but went up after I drank some water and had something to eat. At 20 weeks my iron was low - 10.1 so I had to start taking iron supplements which I will probably take until the end on my pregnancy. The baby's heartbeat has been measuring between 144-155 bpm.
Belly:
- 16 weeks is when I starting to show. I probably noticed it more then everyone else but I did have a bump at this point. At 18 weeks I had to stop wearing the tummy sleeve and switched to all maternity pants. 22-24 weeks (6 months) is when I really started to show and random people would tell me that I looked like I was ready to go anyday now. When I told them I was due in Sept. it got a little awkward - haha. I noticed at around 26 weeks it was getting harder and harder to tie my sneakers! Todd had to help me out with that at the airport after going through security. :) I now wear dresses all the time. It's been really hot lately and dresses are the most comfortable. So far in June it's been in the 90's for 17 days straight so I have been wearing summer dresses as much as a can. It's going to be a hot summer!!!
Movement:
- Week 17 is when I started to feel little kicks here and there. At 18 weeks I started to feel the baby move which was a little scary at first. At 28 weeks Todd was finally able to feel him kick. Before that every time Todd would put his hand on my belly the baby would stop kicking. I also think he was too small at that point. Now that he is getting bigger it's easier to feel him kick and move. I now feel him move all day long. Mostly when I lay down to watch t.v. or go to bed. I always look forward to laying down so I can feel him move! He hasn't been keeping me up at night with his kicks yet. I have been able to sleep through the night except for getting up to go to the bathroom about 4 times a night. But I usually go right back to sleep after that. My back is starting to hurt more at night and I am really trying to sleep on my side but I find myself switching to my back when I'm sleeping.

Close Call
Today I had a scare! My car door hit my belly hard when I closed it shut. I called the nurse just to be on the safe side and she said to come in to check the baby's heartbeat. They were able to find the heartbeat right away and it sounded great. They also hooked me up to a fetal monitor to make sure everything was ok. This is when it all went down hill. I had three contractions in 12 mins and the doctor was concerned. She sent me over to Wake Med to have them monitor me for a while. At this point I was getting really nervous and for a little while I thought that I might have to deliver the little guy today. My mom ended up meeting me at the hospital because Todd was in Charlotte for work. He was ready to drive up if it got worse. When I got to the hospital they treated me as if I was in labor which was a little scary. I got sent up to the Labor and Delivery Triage in a wheel chair. I was in the same room my sister was in when her water broke. When I got to the room they were asking me all the same questions they would to someone in labor. I was hooked up to a heartbeat monitor and a fetal monitor. I also couldn't eat anything in case I had to deliver which was tough because the last thing I ate was ceral at 9am. Once the doctor saw that I wasn't dilated, she was less concerned which was a big relief. They monitored me for 4 hours! I was having 4-6 contractions an hour but they were very small. The baby was moving around so much that the nurse had to keep coming in to adjust the hearbeat monitor. He even had hiccups at one point. He must have known something was up. The good thing was that I was able to hear his heartbeat the whole time which they said sounded great. After 4 hours I was finally able to go home. YAY! I went in with a belly and thankfully left with a belly! He needs to stay put for another 3 months!
***These pictures were taken AFTER we found out everything was going to be ok. Beforehand I was a nervous wreck!

Boston
For Memorial Day Weekend Todd and I went to Boston to visit his family and friends. We had a great time!
We were able to spend a lot of time out on the boat. We had perfect sailing weather all weekend.

On Saturday we went shopping with Barbara. We went to a bunch of baby stores to find a bedding set.
We decided on a bedding set from Restoration Hardware. Here is a picture.
On Sunday we went to Todd's Aunt's house for a BBQ to celebrate Papa's 84th birthday!
