Mom to the rescue!

Last week my mom helped me take care of Parker.  She took off from work and stayed with me for the whole week.  She even slept over for three nights because Todd was away for work.  It was so nice having her here to help and to spend time together with Parker!

Physical Therapy

On Monday Parker went to the Pediatrician's office to get his neck looked at.  Ever since he was born he favors turning his head to one side.  I noticed that the muscle on that side bulges out.  I told my mom about it and she said to have the doctor look at it because it could be the start of Torticollis.  The doctor checked him out, said the muscle was tight and he referred him to physical therapy.  Today we went to the physical therapy appointment and the therapist showed me how to stretch his muscle and position him correctly.  I need to work on his neck for the next month and then go back for a re-evaluation.  The PT will follow him for the next couple of months to get the muscles equally strong.  The therapist has pictures taken at the appointment of him doing the stretches so I can follow them at home.

*** At his appointment on Monday he weighed 6lbs 11oz!!! He's gaining weight! I also got on the scale at the doctor office and I am half way back to my post pregnancy weight! :)

Mission Accomplished

Parker slept in his pack n play all night!!!  We have been trying to get him to sleep in there because lately he only falls asleep when we hold him or in his bouncy chair.  Between my sister, my mom, & I we were able to get him to sleep in the pack n play during the day for a nap.  We swaddled him very tightly, put the sound sleeper on, and gave him his pacifier and it worked.  Then we tried it at night and he slept there the whole night.  My mom feed him at 10pm with a bottle and I went to bed at 9pm. After his bottle my mom put him in the pack n play and he fell asleep at 11pm.  He didn't wake up again until 3am!  I was able to sleep from 9pm-3am.  A whole six hours!!!  I feed him at 3am and then he fell right back to sleep in the pack n play until 6:30am!  I know this is only the first good night and that tonight might be completely different but I am very happy that it worked!

Parker's 1st Week Home

Today is exactly one week from when we left the hospital. Todd and I are enjoying evey minute with Parker! We can't help but smile every time we look at him.  We couldn't be happier that Parker is finally here! He's the best thing that's ever happened to us. We both feel very fortunate and blessed to have him in our lives. At the same time it's been a challenge to adjust to all the changes. For the most part he has been a good boy so far.  We haven't had any major issues yet.  He has his days and nights confused so that has been the only challenge for us. He sleeps all day long and I have to wake him up to feed him. At night he is wide wake and gets a little fussy but most of the time we are able to calm him down quickly.  I am looking forward to see how the next few weeks will go.

Parker had a lot of firsts this week.

Parker's 1st doctors visit!

Parker's first doctor's visit went really well. He has gained 3.5 oz since leaving the hospital. When he was born he weighed 5lbs 15oz. He went down to 5lbs 6oz at the hospital and at his appt. he weighed 5lbs 9.5 oz. We went to the doctors again the following day because I wanted to meet with the lactation specialist and she was so impressed with how well he was feeding that we weighed him again and he weighed 5lbs 11oz! We have another appointment this Friday so hopefully it goes up again! At both appointments they checked him from head to toe and everything looked great!
